How the two levels work
Think of The Outpost as one house with two complete levels. Each level has its own entry, kitchen, living room, bathroom, and laundry. Many groups use the lower level as the main gathering zone and quiet space for younger kids, and the upper level as a second living area for adults or early risers. The lack of an interior staircase keeps noise down while still letting everyone share the same property.
Upper level
Upstairs you’ll find an open living and kitchen area with stainless appliances, a dishwasher, microwave, and a long breakfast bar with four stools. The living room has sofa seating, a 75 inch smart TV, and windows looking into the trees. This level has three bedrooms: one queen bedroom with a desk and door to the wraparound deck, plus two bunk rooms with custom twin-over-twin bunks with real stairs. A remodeled full bath with tiled shower and a stacked washer/dryer sit just off the main space.
Lower level
Downstairs is another full living level. The great room combines a large sectional, a second 75 inch smart TV, a full kitchen, and a dining table that seats about eight. Two queen bedrooms sit off the main space, each with comfortable mattresses and storage. The full bath has a tub/shower combo and another stacked washer/dryer, so long stays and bigger groups are easier to manage.
Mudroom and gear
At the lower entry there is a dedicated mudroom with bench seating, cubbies, and hooks for jackets and helmets. It is designed for skis, boards, and boots to live here instead of on the living room floor. With flat, plowed parking for about eight cars, loading and unloading multiple vehicles is straightforward even in winter.
Sleeping arrangements
The Outpost sleeps up to twelve guests in five true bedrooms:
Upper level
- Queen bedroom with desk and deck access
- Bunk room with one twin-over-twin bunk
- Bunk room with two twin-over-twin bunks (4 twins total)
Lower level
- Queen bedroom
- Queen bedroom
Kitchens and dining
With two full kitchens, you can split cooking and cleanup or keep kids’ snacks and adult dinners separate. Both kitchens have full-size stainless appliances, dishwashers, and basic cookware and dishes. The upper level’s breakfast bar works well for quick meals or keeping the cook company, while the lower level’s dining table seats the group for shared dinners or game nights.
Outdoor space
Nearly two flat acres give you some breathing room. A wraparound deck off the upper level and a second Weber propane grill downstairs make it easy to cook outside from either level.
In warmer months, guests enjoy the private tennis court and the wood firepit in the yard. The setting feels quiet and wooded while still being close to the mountain, the Access Road, and groceries.
Comfort and essentials
Nectar mattresses, fast WiFi, and plenty of outlets keep everyone comfortable and connected. Both main living rooms have 75 inch smart TVs so guests can sign into their own streaming accounts.
Baseboard and wall heat handle winter weather. There is no air conditioning, which is typical for Killington, but fans and cooler evening air with open windows work well for most summer stays.
A whole-house water filtration system with UV treatment is a big plus in this area and means you can drink from the tap confidently.
Pets, parking, and quiet hours
Pets are allowed with a fee, so you don’t have to leave the dog at home. The driveway and parking area are flat and plowed, with room for about eight cars. The Outpost sits in a residential area with neighbors, so no parties or events are allowed and quiet hours run from 10pm to 8am. Outdoor security cameras monitor the driveway only; there are no cameras inside.
Digital Boarding Pass
After booking, you’ll receive a digital Boarding Pass for The Outpost. It includes driving directions, parking and entry details for both levels, tips for using the mudroom and gear storage, and our favorite spots for coffee, breakfast, après ski, dinner, and summer activities around Killington and Pico.
The Outpost Double stands out among our Killington’s large vacation homes, offering space, comfort, and a location that makes group trips easy.
